Restoration - Gettin' to Work

More Restorations More Restorations

After I swapped the automatic transmission for a "Four on the Floor" 4-speed manual Muncie gearbox and Hurst Shifter, I had to hang a new set of pedals with a clutch, then weld on a bracket for the clutch pedal to swivel against, called a "Z-bar". I found mine in a local junkyard for $10, hacksawed it off, then welded it on and attached the Z-bar and clutch pedal to it.

Next on the agenda was a front power disc brake conversion from a donor Chevy, an '80s Blazer I believe, and better handling with new polygraphite bushings front suspension from Performance Suspension Technology (PST), and beefier sway bars and 1-inch lowering springs from Hotchkis.
